4/30/08: Beck Research Award |

At the 2008 KSU Geography Department Honors Day Celebration, I was announced as winner of the Beck Research Award, an award recognizing excellence in graduate student publication. The award was given in honor of my forthcoming publication "(De)Constructing the Geography of America's Surge in Iraq," which is slated for publication in Antipode later this year. |

4/16/08: Geography Bowl MVP |

For the AAG meeting in Boston, I helped organize the World Geography Bowl team for the East Lakes Division team. The World Geography Bowl is a trivia quiz competition in which teams from a number of AAG regions compete. The ELD team performed pretty well, winning the first four matches, but losing the last three in the round-robin, good enough for fourth place out of eight teams. Because I did fairly well in those first four matches, I was somewhat accidentally (on my part) awarded the World Geography Bowl MVP for the tournament. |

2/6/08: I Endorse Barack! |

I've decided to endorse the candidacy of Barack Obama for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination, and, of course, for president. I'm planning to work in his campaign and do everything I can to help him achieve the nomination by winning the March 4 Ohio primary. |
